Noncurrent assets are long-term and cannot easily convert into cash.
Noncurrent assets include notes receivable, such as when a company issues a note receivable for a three-year loan to a customer. Noncurrent assets also include long-term investments in securities and other items.
Both of these examples represent resources available to the company in the future on a long-term basis.
